These NLX motherboards are the best replacements or upgrade motherboard for NEC
(i.e. PowerMate 8100), Dell, Gateway (i.e.ES3200,
ES3400 series) or IBM Aptiva Desktop models and many other NLX style
computers.
NLX Features NLX is a low-profile form factor designed to allow full integration of the latest technologies. Unlike the LPX motherboards, which are similar in appearance to NLX, NLX motherboards are more capable of handling the physical size of new processors and their thermal characteristics.
Advantages
- Support for current processor technologies - NLX allows for more 72-pin processor on the motherboard.
- Flexibility with changing processor technologies - Backplane-like flexibility is built into the form, allowing a new motherboard to be easily installed with minimal computer dismantling.
- Support for emerging technologies - Some included are AGP graphic solutions, USB, and tall memory modules and DIMM technology. Also, as multimedia applications become more important, connectivity support for video playback, enhanced graphics, and extended audio is now built into the motherboard.
Like ATX, the system is clear of the drive bays and other chassis-mounted components. Also, the motherboard and I/O cards, which are mounted parallel to the motherboard, are easily slid in and out of the side of the chassis, leaving the riser card and other cards in place. The processor is also easily accessed and better cooled.
